Question:
Why do snowboarders wear baggy outfits? Wouldn't tight fitting clothes allow them to get more air?

I'm watching the Olympics and am wondering why the snowboarders wear such baggy clothes? I know it got to be partially for style, but is there a competitive edge that can be gained by baggy clothes? Wouldn't tight fitting clothes allow them to travel higher in the air on their jumps?

Must be for style as I was noticing that each snowboarder's pants got lower the farther they were down the halfpipe.

Maybe the baggy clothes act as a parachute slowing their descent allowing for more twists while in the air.

its kinda just to be cool. Most skiers used to wear normal tight close kinda. Now with the new twintips and more skiers hitting terrain parks and jumps they are dressing more baggy like snowboarders. Its just the style young people think is cool (most snowboarders are younger teens)

Can you even find tight snowboarding clothes? That's just the way they make them - baggy.

it woul probualy hurt less when they fall with baggy clothing and also there is insulation in the clothing to keep them warm in the cold, harsh weather

Sure but when the fall they'll probably be hurt more and as far as i can remember, it's always been like that.
